Medusa Sun Beach Festival closes its 3rd edition in Cullera (Valencia) with 145.000 goers and an artistic and visual show never seen before in Spain. Medusa positions itselfs at the top of the Spanish electronic scene and makes an international reference for dance lovers.

All of us, who could attend this edition last weekend, we lived something new, something unseen before in our country.
First the line up, on the level of all other European festivals with some of the best DJ veterans such us Steve Angello coming up with the very best of the progressive groove music which totally engaged the crowd. When “Leave the World Behind” was on air, he took a Spanish flag to maximise the energy on the place. Paul Van Dyk gave us trance for those of the subgenre, lots from their thirties where dancing to his rythm. Benny Benassi made his best and killed the stage with the hit “Satisfaction” and his “cinema”.

The Atlantis Main Stage was the very best of the festival, totally insane and online with other European festivals. 95×30 metres stage decorated with the fantasy of the Medusa and the lost city of Atlantis. Everynight at midgnight, the stage was proof with an espectacle with dancers and acrobats (video above) with a performance never seen before in Spain, all combined with the very best energyful music and laser lights.

Variety was really wellcomed on other “small” stages, indie, techno, remember, edm and bass. The Undersea stage was at every time sounding with the very best of Adam Beyer and Marco Carola, While Modestep, Grandtheft, Nero, Netsky and Kill the noise were destroying the sunshine tent together with LNY TNZ and his powerful hardstyle set!

To meet the assistents expectations, we could enjoy Martin Garrix with his new “in the name of love” sharing cabin with Nervo, Axwell & Ingrosso, Afrojack, W&W and Dyro. About Axwell & Ingrosso, their set was meeting all the crowd expectations containing their Sun is Shinning and their “Can’t Hold Us Down” together with Reload and lots of amazing mashups basing on “One” and “antidote”.

My 3 top sets:

DJ Chuckie

Relive now what I am talking about, it is something to come and experiment by yourself, one of those place you should attend and never let others tell you about it:

Lots of national DJ’s were opening and closing everyday; Juanjo Martin, Beauty Brain, Roberto Sansixto… This last artist together with Eric Vesper and Ruth Calixta designed the Medusa Festival offitial hymn. DJ Nano, JP Candela, Albert Neve and Danny Ávila, this last one probably getting a much higher fame in the near future.

The festival closing was in charge of Paco Osuna, who made the crowd keep dancing after 3 days and nights of music and party.
We must highlight, the proffesional know how of the organisation, who cared a lot about all the goers, and faced a tropical storm that nearly destroyed the experience of thousands of youngs one day before the festival start, giving quick solutions and cleaning the camping in less than 15 hours.

About the camping, compared to other experiences I have heard, and considering that this was my first experience in a tent, I have to say that was totally organized, protected, safed and great. Showers were more than enought, prices for food and merchandising were ok, free parking, … It also includes 3 days of preparty at the beach, something great to start meeting new people to face the festival.

All of this we commented, impacted the city with 18 million euros, which makes totally real a new edition in 2017.

This was the line up this year:

See you next year!!!
